Variations on a theme

David’s recent DVD recording of the Shostakovich Preludes & Fugues now features on the Stingray platform and has also been shortlisted for the 2026 New York Festivals TV and Film Awards, the results of which will be announced on May 21.

Last year he scooped a finalist’s gong in the New York International Film Awards and also performed a complete cycle of the 24 Preludes & Fugues at the Salle Gothique in Brussels’ Grand Place as well as performing them to acclaim elsewhere

There were also a couple of recent recitals on the French Riviera which allowed him to finish his cycle of the complete keyboard works of Bach, which he has performed in the churches and concert halls of his adoptive town of Cannes.

David has been invited back to play at the Chateau d’Alba in the Ardèche and in August will be performing Beethoven’s Diabelli Variations at the historic location on August 6, with a first half of Bach and Mompou. Last year he brought the house down with a recital which culminated in Schubert’s Wanderer Fantasy.

In July he’s playing at St James’s church in London’s Sussex Gardens and will be doing two further recitals at Notre-Dame de Bon Voyage in Cannes, on the Côte d’Azur.
